After Le Brun’s death, Sébastien Le Clerc took on the challenge of reproducing his famous Alexander paintings; unlike Gérard Audran and Gérard Edelinck before him, he chose to do so in his preferred medium of small-scale etchings. Around the same time, he published this album of heads copied from Le Brun’s drawings and paintings. Note in particular the face of the weeping princess in this plate and in the engraving on the wall above.
